BERKELEY, CALIF. (Sept. 30, 2017) – As the lone Division III competitor in an all Division I field, the North Central College women's triathlon team proved once again dominant at the USA Triathlon West Region Qualifier in Berkeley, Calif. on Saturday.

The Cardinals excelled in the 750-meter open water swim, with Kate Canfield leading her teammates and finishing the first stage in ten minutes, 58.9 seconds.
Naomi Hill went into the biking stage second for North Central, completing the first stage in 11:32.8, followed by
Grace Miller in 11:54.6 and
Jennifer Hufnagle in 13:29.0.

Hill made her move during the 20-kilometer bike, heading into the final 5,000-meter run in 34:42.5. Hufnagle also maintained her position, completing the bike in 36:52.3, followed by Canfield with a time of 37:41.2 and Miller in 38:44.0.

In her first full race coming back from injury, Hill turned in an impressive performance, pacing her teammates with a 13th-place overall finish and completing the course in 1:10.37.3. Canfield crossed the line second for North Central with a time of 1:13.50.8 and placed 23rd overall.

Hufnagle finished 25th with a time of 1:15.19.5 and Miller followed in 26th with a time of 1:15.26.5

North Central travels to Sarasota, Florida on Oct. 7 for the USA Triathlon East Region Qualifier, the final qualifying event for the national championship in November.
