BOURBONNAIS, Ill. (Sept. 29, 2017) – After a week off from competition, the North Central College women's cross country team ended up with a fourth-place finish in the Midwest Intercollegiate Invitational at the Aspen Ridge Golf Course.
North Central scored a total of 104 points, with University of Chicago taking the win with 29 points. University of St. Francis took second (82) and host Olivet Nazarene University placed third (103). The Maroons' Khia Kurtenbach won the individual title, finishing the 5,000-meter (3.1-mile) course in 18 minutes, 23.5 seconds.
Two freshmen led the way for the Cardinals with
Alexis Henz and
Madelyn Scopp finishing with times of 19:29.1 and 19:30.1, good enough for 17
th and 18
th place. Next for North Central was another freshman,
Emma Jourdan, crossing the line in 25
th (19:55.3) and sophomore
Allyson McLaughlin close behind in 27
th (19:59.1). Rounding out the scoring for the Cardinals was senior
Allison Hartman, finishing 33
rd (20:12.5).
North Central travels to St. James Farm in Warrenville Oct. 6 to race in the Benedictine University Eagle Invitational.
