Nov. 5, 2015 - The North Central College women's cross country team hosted its lone home meet of the season on Thursday, taking third place in a six-team field in the Red/White Invitational at St. James Farm.
With the athletes competing in next weekend's NCAA Division III Midwest Region Championship getting the day off, the Cardinals finished with a total of 77 points, finishing behind Washington University in St. Louis (19) and Wheaton College (56).
Washington's Aly Wayne cruised to a comfortable win in the individual competition, touring the three-mile course in 17 minutes, 36.70 seconds. North Central was led by Hailey Dammeier and Yesenia Nunez, who finished 13th (18:52.51) and 14th (18:56.49), respectively.
Kaylin Smith placed 20th (19:05.83), while Emily Trent came in 23rd (19:17.53) and Tori Capozziello completed the Cardinals' scoring in 26th (19:23.63).
This year's Division III Midwest Region Championship will be held at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Illinois, on Saturday, Nov. 14. North Central will be seeking to qualify for the Division III National Championship for the second straight year.
