Sept. 30, 2011-- The National Fastpitch Coaches Association released its All-Academic Team Award winners for NCAA Division III this week with the North Central College softball squad claiming the award for its continued success both on the diamond and in the classroom.

The Cardinals were among 111 NCAA Division III teams to be recognized after compiling a team grade point average of 3.324 for the 2010-2011 academic year. North Central was one of just two College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin teams honored, joining Elmhurst College.

The NFCA Academic Awards program honors both collegiate and high school teams for their submitted GPAs for the 2010-2011 academic year. As a second component of the program, all submitted student-athletes who achieved a 3.50 GPA during last academic year are named as a NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete. The individual honorees will be announced on Wednesday, October 5.

North Central finished its 2011 campaign with a 26-14 overall record, winning the CCIW Tournament for the seventh time and competing in the NCAA Division III Tournament for the 10th time in program history and the third time in the last four years.
