NSCAA Scholar All-Central Region Team

Feb. 8, 2011-- The National Soccer Coaches Association of America released its Scholar All-Region Teams with North Central College men's soccer player Michael Curtis earning Honorable Mention recognition.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) throughout his career; start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team; be nominated by an institution that is a current NSCAA College Services member; be a junior or above in academic standing at the current institution; be in his second year at the current school if he is a transfer student; and submit an official copy of a certified transcript.

Curtis, a junior biology major, was one of 29 athletes selected as Honorable Mention for the combined All-North/Central Region Team. 13 athletes were selected to the 1st Team. Curtis was additionally the lone representative from the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin and was one of just two players from Illinois to be honored.

Curtis appeared in 12 games for the Cardinals, making 10 starts. The junior midfielder scored his lone goal of the season on Sept. 10 against regionally-ranked Hope College, converting a penalty kick in the 22nd minute helping North Central salvage a 1-1 double overtime tie against the Flying Dutchmen.

The Cardinals finished the 2010 campaign with a 5-10-3 overall record.
