Dec. 5, 2011-- For the fifth straight year, the North Central College women's soccer team has been honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, earning the Team Academic Award for its outstanding performance in the classroom in 2010-2011.
The Cardinals compiled a 3.13 team grade-point average during the 2010-2011 academic year, securing the Team Academic Award for the fifth consecutive season. In total, 571 women's teams across all three NCAA divisions were honored by the NSCAA, including six of the eight College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin institutions. The women's soccer programs at Augustana College, Carthage College, Elmhurst College, Illinois Wesleyan University and North Park University all received citations for their outstanding academic performance.
North Central was additionally one of 153 schools to have both their men's and women's programs recognized.
To qualify for the NSCAA Team Academic Award, teams must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and their institutions must be current NSCAA College Services members.
North Central finished the 2011 season with a 7-9-1 overall record and a 0-6-1 mark in CCIW play.
