NSCAA Release

Dec. 5, 2011-- The North Central College men's soccer program is one of 218 institutions to earn the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award for its outstanding performance in the classroom in 2010-2011.

The Cardinals compiled a 3.10 team grade-point average during the 2010-2011 academic year, to secure the honor. In total, 218 men's teams across all three NCAA divisions were honored by the NSCAA, including four of the eight College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin institutions. The men's soccer programs at Illinois Wesleyan University, North Park University and Wheaton College all received citations for their outstanding academic performance.

North Central was additionally one of 153 schools to have both their men's and women's programs recognized.

To qualify for the NSCAA Team Academic Award, teams must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and their institutions must be current NSCAA College Services members.

North Central finished its 2011 campaign with a 10-5-2 overall record and a 2-3-2 mark within the conference, posting its first winning season since 1999.
