ITA Academic Award Winners

Aug. 17, 2010-- North Central College women's tennis players Allison Paschold and Cory Schillerstrom were honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for their academic and athletic achievement, earning the ITA Scholar Athlete Award.

Paschold, a senior marketing major, won the award for the second consecutive season. Paschold concluded the 2009-2010 campaign with a 14-9 record at No. 4 singles, including a third place finish at the CCIW Championships while compiling a 14-12 mark playing at the No. 2 doubles position.

Schillerstrom earns the Scholar Athlete Award for the second straight year. The sophomore elementary education major earned All-Conference honors in the fall, compiling an 18-12 record at the No. 1 singles position while posting a 15-13 mark playing at the No. 1 doubles spot.

In total 432 athletes from 100 NCAA Division III institutions were honored as ITA Scholar Athletes, with 10 hailing from the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. Augustana College and Wheaton College each had four athletes earn the award.

To be eligible for the Scholar Athlete Award, student athletes must be a varsity letterwinner, maintain at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA for the academic year and be enrolled at his current college for at least two semesters.

North Central closed out the 2009-2010 season with a 12-6 record, finishing third at the CCIW Championships, the team's highest finish in school history. The Cardinals open up the 2010 Fall season on Sept. 3 against the University of Saint Francis (Ill.) before opening up their home slate on Sept. 6 against Wheaton.
