Apr. 25, 2010 - The North Central College men's golf team turned in its third fourth-place finish in a week's time at the Scot-Fire Invitational, placing fourth at the 10-team event co-hosted by Monmouth College and Knox College.
The Cardinals shot an opening-round score of 304 on Friday at Gibson Woods Golf Course in Monmouth, Ill., then turned in a score of 315 in the second round at Soangetaha Country Club in Galesburg, Ill., on Saturday to finish with a 36-hole score of 619. Millikin University posted the low rounds on both days and won the team title with a score of 593.
Millikin's Wes Hillen won individual medalist honors, finishing with a three under-par total of 146.
Nick Guido led North Central's contingent, placing third with a score of 148.
Joshua Brantner turned in his best two 18-hole rounds of the spring and finished 12th (153), while
Matt Grennell tied for 16th (154) and
Steven Panek tied for 43rd (163).
North Central plays in the Elmhurst College Invitational at Oak Brook Golf Course on Monday before traveling to Bolingbrook Golf Club Friday and Saturday for the final two rounds of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Championships.
