National Football Foundation Press Release

Apr. 23, 2009 - North Central College student-athletes #Mike MacIntosh#, #Joe Rubin#, and #Tyler Venier# have been selected as members of the National Football Foundation's Hampshire Honor Society Class of 2009.

The Hampshire Honor Society, part of the NFF's effort to recognize academic and athletic success, is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who have maintained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or better during their collegiate football careers. A total of 564 players from 266 institutions qualified for membership in the society's third year, a 27 percent increase from the 2008 class. In its inaugural year in 2007, the Hampshire Honor Society honored over 300 students from 195 schools.

MacIntosh, Rubin, and Venier are all four-year members of the North Central College football program. MacIntosh, a wide receiver, was a three-time Academic All-College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin selection and completed his career ranked fourth in the history of the Cardinals' program in receptions (100), fifth in touchdown receptions (12), and sixth in receiving yards (1,211).

Rubin, an Academic All-CCIW selection last fall, was a mainstay on North Central's special teams units, serving as one of the team's main kick returners, and earned a starting spot at the H-back position as a senior.

Venier, also a three-time Academic All-CCIW pick, was a three-year starter at cornerback, and finished his career with 126 tackles. He is tied for second in school history in career interceptions (12).

The trio joins North Park University's Brian Reif as the only CCIW representatives among this year's inductees.

The Cardinals are coming off a 2008 season which saw them win a school-record 11 games, including a third straight CCIW championship and a fourth consecutive NCAA Division III postseason appearance.
