Dec. 8, 2008 – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced their Team Academic Award winners, with the North Central College women's soccer team being recognized for their outstanding performance in the classroom during the 2008 season.
To qualify for the NSCAA Team Academic Award, teams must have a minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and their institutions must be current NSCAA College Services members. The Cardinals boasted a 3.19 GPA during the 2007-08 academic year and were one of just three College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin schools to make the cut.
North Central concluded the 2008 season with a 6-8-4 record, setting school records for most shutouts, most ties and fewest goals allowed. Goalkeepers
Elise Manzie (Jr., Naperville, Ill./Central) and
Amy Frazzini (Fr., Orland Park, Ill./Sanburg) each earned CCIW Defensive Player of the Week honors during the season, anchoring a stout Cardinal defense that yielding only 24 goals.
