WHEATON, Ill. (Dec. 3, 2011)-- The North Central College men's and women's swimming teams returned to the pool after a week layoff, with both squads finishing sixth at the Wheaton College Invitational inside Chrouser Natatorium.

Kelsey Truedson highlighted the two-day meet, placing eighth in the 200-yard individual medley. The freshman touched the wall in two minutes, 19.42 seconds in the preliminary heats before clocking a 2:20.15 in the finals. Truedson additionally tallied a 14th place finish in the 200-yard backstroke (2:17.75) and a 13th place showing in the 400-yard individual medley (4:56.69).

Kelsey Tumpane finished 10th in the 400-yard IM, posting a time of 4:53.85 while recording a pair of 15th place finishes in the 100-yard butterfly (1:03.72) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:21.03).

On the men's side, Neil Hummer was 19th in the 400-yard IM, stopping the clock in 4:53.00 while also placing 21st in the 200-yard butterfly (2:15.59) and 34th in the 500-yard freestyle (5:19.65). Jake Nurczyk was 24th in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing in 59.03.

The Cardinal women tallied 93 points while the men amassed 12 points both placing sixth. The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point captured the team title on both the men's and women's sides while Washington University in Saint Louis placed second in both genders in the team standings.

North Central returns to the pool on Tuesday, December 13, facing off against Olivet College (Mich.) in a dual meet in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. during the team's annual winter training trip.
