LISLE, Ill. (Oct. 7, 2011)-- The North Central College men's cross country program sent a partial squad to the Benedictine University Eagle Invitational on Friday afternoon, placing third at the 11-team event.

North Central, ranked No. 1 in the USTFCCA rankings, tallied 93 points in the team standings for a third place finish. The University of Saint Francis won the invite with a score of 29 while Lewis University was second with 33 points.

Spiros Angelakos and Kelvin Guilbault paced the Cardinals, finishing back-to-back in 15th and 16th places. Angelakos traversed the 8,000-meter course at Lisle Community Park in 27 minutes, 23 seconds while Guilbault was three seconds back. Mackenzie Boyd was 22nd in 27:50 while Ryan Thompsen (27th- 28:02) and Jacob Paulus (32nd- 28:09) rounded out the scoring five.

The Cardinals return to action next Saturday, traveling to Winneconne, Wis. for the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational.
